Allen West for President

I absolutely love to listen to this man speak.
He says what he means, and means what he says.

Please forgive me for linking to this ridiculous Progressive website.

Allen West for President

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- Freshman Republican Rep. Allen West—a rising star in the tea party and conservative movements—may have a grassroots movement to draft him for president brewing in his district. The question came to West in a packed town hall meeting in Pompano Beach Monday night.

“We have a president sitting in the White House right now who hates America,” a woman from the audience said. “Who goes around apologizing for America. We have enemies from within from without. Our time is running out … I’m here to ask you to please consider throwing your hat in the ring in 2012.”

After a sustained standing ovation from the crowd of almost 300, West replied: “This is what you have to understand. I believe that we can’t have leadership by a cult of personality. I have to prove myself. I have to prove myself as a statesman, as a capable legislator. Look—everyone knows how I feel about this country. But there are some things that I have to learn about the machinations of Washington DC, so that I can be an effective leader. Because the last thing I would want--you know, my dad raised me with a great maxim--never read your own press never drink your own tub water. It is very humbling that you would say that … right now my focus is on being a great congressman for the people of South Florida. You know, it’s up to God and it’s up to my wife, so you’ll probably need to ask her.”

It was one highlight of a spirited—and sometimes tense—two hour event. One exchange with an attendee over Islam turned into a shouting match among several constituents at the town hall, and escalated when West shot back, “I’ve been on the battlefield my friend--don’t try to blow sunshine up my butt.” He later apologized.
